Melissa and Danny were married this past weekend at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and held their reception at the Sacramento Grand Ballroom. And what an amazing reception it was! Melissa came to me about 10 months ago on the urging from her Mother and sister and past-bride, Michelle. I loved working them to plan Melissa and Danny’s wedding. Stylish, lush, unexpected, rich and dramatic are some of the descriptions I could give the decor.
Melissa’s bouquet consisted of Black Bacarra roses, burgundy amaryllis, Schwarzwalder callas and a touch of kangaroo paw all framed by anthurium blooms.
We kept the decor at the church simple. Just two dramatic altar arrangements and candles lining the aisle. Mai Chor, my designer extraordinare, designed the show stopping altar arrangements. They consisted of hydrangeas, Black Bacarra roses, red dogwood branches and black ti leaves.
The next centerpiece was designed with roses, hydrangea, carnations, tulips and dusty miller all displayed in a mirrored box container.
This centerpiece was of mercury glass candle sticks highlighted with deep red amaryllis blooms.
We had some fun with the marble entry table at The Sacramento Grand Ballroom. The table held a dramatic display of mercury glass globes, votives and candle sticks. The candle sticks held deep red carnation orbs. The whole display was highlighted with swirls of red rose petals.
I just love the added touch of the rhinestone “g” in the orb.
Seriously, one of the most jaw dropping cakes I have ever seen with my little peepers. Shelton’s Cake Design knocked it out of the park with a pristine fondant creation. Each layer was banded with rhinestone edging (fun note, my son Evan stopped by to see the reception set up. When he saw the cake he asked if “those are real diamonds”). Sonny with Exquisite Events and Entertainment put a special spot light on the cake so the rhinestones would dazzle.
I will make sure to post the pictures of the crazy gorgeous wedding party when I get them back form Excite Photography.
